Meet Ida Ringmann – New Digital Designer at NetClean

After several years studying in Australia, Ida Ringmann is back on our shores and that is a win for NetClean. We took a moment to chat to her about her career, what she wants for Christmas and who Ponyo is.

A WARM WELCOME TO THE NETCLEAN FAMILY, IDA!
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ONBOARD?

Without trying to sound too ingratiating, I can say that it feels great to be a part of this team. Having freelanced, and worked several design jobs, NetClean adds something to my career that I have been looking for for some time. Although my job is still in design and marketing, I am now working for a company that is actively working to make a positive change by addressing a problem that many people don’t yet know about. And that was what made me apply for the position.

Starting a new job in the middle of an ongoing pandemic could have been a real challenge, as most of my colleagues are working from home, but it has really worked beyond my expectations. My awesome colleagues have really done what they can to ensure that I have had a soft landing. As an employer, NetClean has really ensured that remote working has been smooth and positive. So, I’m very pleased to be onboard.

FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW YOU, WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT NETCLEAN?

Well, my official title is “Digital Designer”, but as that title tends to need a bit of interpretation, I usually describe my role as being a digital designer and creator within WordPress, and that I also work on video editing and communication material. I usually say to my friends; it’s a broad title for a reason; it’s a varied role, which needs a varied set of skills.

YOU STARTED IN SEPTEMBER, ARE YOU BEGINNING TO FIND YOUR FEET?

I would say most definitely yes! But being a bit humble, I would add that it’s a yes in moderation. It’s all still very new, and I am yet to be introduced to all the different projects. But it has most certainly been a wild ride so far, with many new people, and interesting new projects to test my skills. The Brighthood conference for one, was a totally new experience, as in my previous jobs I have mainly focused on digital content and printed material, whereas this was a live event which required an even more agile work mode than otherwise.

YOU LIVED AUSTRALIA FOR SOME YEARS, WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR MOVING THERE?

The short version is that I wanted to move somewhere new.
The longer version is that my boyfriend and I were not entirely sure about the directions our studies had taken, and wanted to try something new. I was studying archeology, but when my boyfriend suggested moving to Australia, I jumped at the idea. Originally I was going to follow the archeology path I was on, but then I decided to pursue one of my other interests and creative skills and study digital design. I got a Major in 3D design and a double minor in Graphic Design and Game Arts. When I was done with my degree I stayed on for an extra year working as a freelancing creator.

SO THIS PONYO YOU’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT, IS IT YOUR PET KOALA THEN?

Haha! Well, Ponyo is a Japanese name, meaning something along the lines of; chubby, fluffy, soft and cute. So, I could see how you would confuse her with a koala. However, the Aussies were not kind enough to gift me with such a precious little animal on my return to Sweden. So yeah nah, Ponyo is my beloved golden retriever who is 9 months, that I so sneakily got for my boyfriend’s (yes it’s the same one as above) 30th birthday this year. If I ever take Ponyo back to Oz, I’d definitely let her climb a tree or two.

BEFORE WE LET YOU GO; IT’S DECEMBER SOON, ANY SPECIAL WISHES FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR?

Yes! I wish for people to stay safe and to care about one another. I want people to make sure the elderly don’t feel lonely during the holiday season. As it is a time when many feel more lonely than usual, I want everyone to try and make their friends and loved ones feel that they matter. Just a simple text with holiday wishes can really change the outcome of someone’s day. Say hello to your neighbour. If someone at the bus stop is making small talk, talk with them, they might not have spoken to someone in weeks. Smile and say thank you to the cashier when buying groceries, they might be experiencing their worst day ever. And if someone is trying to reach out to you – listen. It takes courage to be vulnerable. Be kind.

And since my boyfriend will read this interview; I want more dogs. Please, get me 3-4 golden puppies for the holidays, would you?
