The Threat Landscape Is Changing. Are We Seeing the Right Risks?

My takeaways from Truesec Cybersecurity Summit 2026

After three great events in Umeå, Stockholm and Copenhagen, I leave with one clear takeaway: cybersecurity is evolving fast, and our ability to understand risk needs to evolve with it.

Throughout the summit, we explored how AI, automation and increasingly sophisticated attacks are reshaping the security landscape. From autonomous AI agents to proactive threat hunting, one message was clear: organizations need better intelligence, broader visibility and the ability to act before risks develop into more serious incidents.

But the conversations we had alongside the summit also raised an important question:

What about the risks we are not looking for?

A blind spot in corporate security

Organizations invest heavily in protecting networks, identities and data. Yet some forms of human insider risk can remain outside the visibility of traditional cybersecurity controls, particularly when they involve people who already have legitimate access to systems, information and other organizational assets.

Terrorist and Violent Extremist Content (TVEC) is one example. When known TVEC appears in a corporate environment, it can provide a verified Risk Indicator that may warrant further assessment and investigation.

A match does not determine intent or establish that someone poses a threat. It provides additional context that traditional security controls may not be designed to identify.

The same principle applies to other supported Risk Domains, including Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Verified Risk Indicators can add another layer of visibility into serious activity that may otherwise remain unseen within existing security operations.

Better intelligence. Greater visibility.

One of the strongest messages from the summit was the importance of using intelligence to identify what conventional security approaches might miss.

This is where NetClean adds value.

NetClean ProActive is a Human Insider Risk Intelligence Platform that brings specialized intelligence into existing security environments and workflows. Using verified Risk Indicators, organizations can add visibility into human insider risk that traditional cybersecurity controls may not be designed to identify.

ProActive intelligence is delivered through complementary File and Web Risk Indicators across supported Risk Domains, including CSAM and TVEC.

The goal is not to replace existing security investments. It is to strengthen them with another layer of intelligence and bring relevant findings into established assessment, investigation and response processes.

Awareness is not enough

Truesec ended its summit with a practical question:

What should you do on Monday?

My answer is simple: start by looking at the risks your existing security controls may not be designed to see.

Organizations cannot manage risks they cannot see. As the security landscape evolves, adding visibility into human insider risk is becoming an increasingly important part of modern cybersecurity.

That is why NetClean and Truesec are running a joint campaign in Q4 2026 to help organizations take action.
